About This Painting
La Questura is a small cityscape painting of Florence, focused on one of the civic buildings woven into the everyday structure of the city. Rather than presenting Florence only through its famous monuments, this painting looks toward a more ordinary urban subject, where architecture, light, and local life become the heart of the image.
Small paintings can hold a particular intimacy. They ask the viewer to come closer, to slow down, and to notice the quiet geometry of streets, walls, windows, and public buildings that often pass unnoticed.
Like many of my cityscape paintings, this work began with direct observation and photography, then developed slowly in the studio through drawing, composition, and layers of oil paint. The original painting is no longer on the market.
