About This Painting
This painting depicts Piazza del Duomo in Florence, one of the most recognizable and extraordinary spaces in the city. The cathedral, the bell tower, and the movement of people through the piazza come together in a scene of architecture, light, history, and daily life.
Like many of my cityscape paintings, this work began with direct observation and photography, then developed slowly in the studio through drawing, composition, and layers of oil paint.
